Play and Repeat??! Days of piano improvisation
Final concert
Play & Repeat??! Piano improvisation daysFinal concert by the participants
For the seventh time, pianists - students, professionals and committed amateur musicians - meet at the Landesmusikakademie to deepen their practice in the field of improvisation.
The four lecturers Sebastian Sternal, Christopher Miltenberger, Helmut Lörscher and Laurens Patzlaff are professors at the music schools in Mainz, Freiburg and Lübeck. They are among the most internationally renowned specialists in piano improvisation and each pursue individual approaches to improvisation, with which they have made an outstanding name not only in the field of jazz.
“... the ear does not like to be satisfied with what it has already suspected in advance, but always wants to be deceived.” (Joachim Quantz, 1752)
Improvising on jazz standards, folk songs and pop songs is one of the most important skills of music teachers nowadays. Improvisation is also playing an increasingly important role in instrumental lessons. The course is aimed at all those who want to deepen their knowledge of piano improvisation and at the same time break new ground in traditional ways. Variation and renewal of known musical patterns of all kinds is the focus of the course work.
