VOCES8 Vocal Summer Class
in cooperation with the Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz
With the Vocal Summer Class for a cappella ensembles, the Landesmusikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz 2020 continues the almost legendary Summer Classes of past years with the Hilliard Ensemble, the King's Singers, Amarcord or Singer Pur. Once again, VOCES8, one of the best internationally active a cappella ensembles, has been enlisted to work intensively with the course participants on the high art of ensemble singing during a late summer week in Engers.
With its unconventional way of performing and programming, VOCES8 has sung its way to the top of the a cappella world in a very short time. Their repertoire is as diverse as their touring schedule and they are as successful in Europe as they are in North America or Asia. In addition to the dozens of concerts they give each year, they also give workshops and master classes around the world, reaching some 20,000 people annually.
In the Vocal Summer Class, all members of VOCES8 act as instructors, bringing different aspects of ensemble work into the coaching sessions. Several concerts of VOCES8 as well as "VOCES8 & friends" take place in the context of the Summer Class, which are partly co-designed by the participating ensembles if the quality is good enough.
A cappella ensembles with 3-12 singers, who usually work without a conductor and ideally already have concert experience, are addressed.
This course is recognized by the Pädagogisches Landesinstitut Rheinland-Pfalz under Az. MA.2229 as serving official interests.
