The course addresses questions of rehearsal when it comes to Popular Music. It is meant for choir singers and choir conductors (school choirs included) with advanced singing abilities.
Together with the participants, Erik Sohn will work on Pop / Jazz arrangements, taking into account the following questions:
•How can the Groove in a choir be harmonised?
•How are pop-specific voice sounds created?
•What is important to attain consistent and stable timing?
•What is important for articulation that comforms with the different styles of popular music?
•How are consistent sound styles and phrasing created?
Erik Sohn grew up in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, studied Music and Germanistik in Cologne. After receiving his Staatsexamen (state examination diploma), he went on to study Vocal Arts with Prof. Berthold Schmid in Dortmund.
