Online Seminar - Interactive Videos in Music Lessons - Creating Task Formats with H5P
At the latest since COVID-19 brought things like distance learning, hybrid teaching, Moodle, Padlet and co. into German teachers' rooms and onto German teachers' computers, more and more colleagues are thinking about how students can learn digitally and self-directed in music lessons.
When looking for tools for "interactive learning content" on the web, one comes across H5P relatively quickly. This is a kind of free online authoring toolbox for creating interactive learning and teaching content. Most H5P formats are - in the broadest sense - interactive.
H5P is under constant development and currently offers, for example, the possibility to design these actions:
- multiple choice
- True-False Decisions
H5P can be integrated into many well-known web tools; there are plugins for Moodle or for WordPress. But even without having your own website, blog or Moodle, anyone can build H5P content. The Central for Teaching Media on the Internet, perhaps already known to many because of ZUM-Pad, a free installation of Etherpad, makes it possible, after a free registration at ZUM Apps, to access all H5P content there, to build your own content and also to publish it.
In this course, I want to put a main focus on the so-called "interactive videos". Here one of the captivating advantages of H5P becomes clear:
A (youtube) video can (and may!) be used to be linked to tasks, information, references and additional tools.
The easiest way is to play through the example once:
Prerequisites for the course are either an account on https://apps.zum.de (to be able to create or publish H5P content), access to moodle (important! The administrator must have enabled the H5P plugin here) or a website/blog with wordpress (and H5P plugin installed).
To be able to fully use the course offering, a PC workstation with webcam and microphone - also built-in - must be available. (Laptop or tablet are usable).
Zoom is used as the conference system.
The access data will be communicated to the participants in good time before the start of the training.
This course is recognised by the Pädagogisches Landesinstitut Rheinland-Pfalz under Az. MA.2190 as serving official interests.
