Onlinefortbildung - Open Source Music Software: Audacity

The training is aimed at music teachers interested in technology at all school levels - especially at secondary schools.

Audacity is a free but professional audio editor and recorder that can be used, for example, to create and edit radio plays, podcasts or other audio recordings. The program includes a variety of filters, sound effects, tone generators, analysis tools and other plugins.

In general, free, open-source software such as Audacity offers schools, teachers, and students the opportunity to become fully equipped on a budget. It is usually available cross-platform (i.e. for different operating systems such as Windows, macOS or Linux) and also runs on older hardware. One can install this software on school and personal devices at no cost and without licensing issues and work with it at home or during home schooling.

In this approximately three-hour webinar with theory and practical parts, Audacity and its implementation in the music classroom will be covered in depth.

Teaching team:

Peter Engeldinger is a teacher for music and chemistry at the Stefan-Andres-Gymnasium in Schweich. He is responsible for recording and mastering various music productions with students and administers the school's computer labs. For many years he has been involved with open source, both professionally and in his spare time, especially with music software, educational software, sound engineering and Linux.
