Online seminar - Dorico basic seminar for iPad/SE/Elements/Pro via Zoom

(without prior knowledge)

Basic seminar for Dorico iPad/SE/Elements/Pro (without prior knowledge)

"Get to know the new possibilities of the music notation software Dorico. Newcomers and those switching from other music programmes are very welcome. The seminars are aimed at musicians, composers, arrangers, music teachers at general education schools and instrumental teachers alike. If you do not own Dorico, simply install the 60-day trial version in advance and get to know Dorico, or simply take part with the free versions Dorico SE or Dorico for iPad. The content of the seminars is designed to familiarise you with the main functions and the new concept of Dorico. Dorico offers many advantages over other music notation programmes, e.g. single-window operation, automatically merged scores, automatic layout without collisions, multi-movement works in one project, and much more."

This seminar covers the basic functionality and operation of Dorico: the concept and philosophy of Dorico; 5 modes; what are parts; what is the difference between single and set players; single-window operation; what are popovers; what are the possibilities for entering notes; how do I create a layout; page templates; MIDI editing, playback; VST instruments, creating an mp3 and much more.

After the overview of the functions, it's time to get into practice. Exercises will be used to learn and practise how to enter notes efficiently.

There will also be a practical seminar on 18.11.24 in which you can deepen your knowledge.

Teaching team:

Markus Hartmann took his first steps into music at the end of the 1970s on the trumpet in the Neu-Ulm town band under the direction of his father. After switching instruments to the electric/contrabass, he studied jazz and popular music at the Cologne University of Music in the 1990s. He then spent four years as the bass player in the Bundeswehr big band in Euskirchen. Music notation has always been an important area for him, so he has worked as a music notator for many publishers, orchestras and radio stations. Most recently, as a reservist in the German Armed Forces, he was responsible for setting up a central music archive at the Military Music Centre in Bonn. Since the beginning of 2019, he has been the contact person for the DORICO notation software in German-speaking countries.
