This course focuses on rehearsal work in popular choral music and is designed for choristers and choir directors - including those from schools - with advanced vocal skills.
Rehearsal work on pop-jazz arrangements will focus on groove, timing, pop-specific vocal sounds, stylistics, articulation, and phrasing.
In addition, there will be opportunities for leaders to rehearse sections of the arrangements worked on in short coaching sessions and also to rehearse small units. Interested persons please indicate this in their registration.

Erik Sohn grew up in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, studied Music and Germanistik in Cologne. After receiving his Staatsexamen (state examination diploma), he went on to study Vocal Arts with Prof. Berthold Schmid in Dortmund. In addition to his active career as a Classic Concert Singer, Erik Sohn is also in high demand in the field of Popular Vocal Music, where he works as a Coach for vocal ensembles, a-capella bands and choirs. He's been working as a teacher of this field since 2006. Since 2011 he's a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Kön (Academy of Music and Dance Cologne). Together with Stephan Görg, he is the head of the Jazz-Pop choir "Vocal Journey" and the initiator of the annual festival for Popular Vocal Music "voc.cologne" which takes place in January.     |
