Additional qualification as a music teacher in educational assistance

Part-time workshop in 7 modules

Target group: Employees of educational institutions,
- who want to build up and expand their music pedagogical work or qualify it
- and would like to responsibly develop and implement music pedagogical concepts in their field of work.

Through the many years of work of the "Bundesjugendhilfe-Musikprojekt des BvKE", the importance of musical work with children and adolescents in educational assistance became visible.

Music education in child and youth welfare works with children and young people who are disadvantaged on many levels. The further education is resource-oriented, it starts with the musical preferences and interests of the children and adolescents and builds on them. First and foremost, musical experience and making music together should be stimulated and enable a sense of achievement.

Music pedagogical offers should belong to the standard of the educational assistance. Until now, there has been no such training in the context of educational assistance. This is why the BvKE, in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Academy and the Catholic College for Social Pedagogy in Saarbrücken, is qualifying employees with an affinity for music in educational assistance to become competent and certified music educators.

The course provides a broad insight into the possibilities of music pedagogical work in educational assistance and focuses on pedagogical and therapeutic approaches in addition to musical skills and knowledge.

It goes without saying that all modules involve making music, singing and moving together. Elementarization as a didactic-methodical principle is fundamental.

Contents of the modules:

Elementary music theory
Biography work
Music therapy aspects
Listening and perception of music
Voice and singing
