Cajón Workshop



This workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn the cajón as a versatile instrument! Whether in the classroom or in group lessons, the cajón is an ideal rhythm instrument and can also be used as a supplement for all other instruments.

The workshop is intended for teachers at general education schools and music schools who would like to use the cajón in their lessons, as well as for anyone who is simply enthusiastic about rhythms and wants to get active themselves.

The workshop includes the following topics:

- Basics and playing techniques of the instrument

- Development of basic rhythms from different styles

- Using selected songs, suggestions for the implementation of drum rhythms on the cajón will be made

- ensemble playing

 

 

Teaching team:

Prof. José Cortijo, born in Barcelona, has been active as a musician and lecturer in Germany since 1983. Since 1994 he has been teaching at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim, where in 2003 the only professorship for jazz percussion in Germany was established. He is in demand as a lecturer at workshops in Germany and abroad. In addition to other publications, he is the author of a workshop series in the professional journal "drums & percussion" as well as the add-on for the notation program FINALE "score Groove". www.jose-cortijo.de
