"Musiktage am Rhein" is an international festival where talented young musicians, young professional musicians, and established, renowned classical artists from over 25 countries come together to make music.
Over the course of two weeks, a master class is held, and its participants, in collaboration with the artists, perform in a series of concerts that enrich the musical scene in the Neuwied-Engers region.

Prof. Anne Shih (violin) is the artistic director of the course. Born in Canada, she began playing the violin there at the age of five. At twelve, she made her orchestral debut with the Calgary Philharmonic. She was just as successful playing the piano as the violin. Together with her sisters, she gave guest performances on many concert tours in Europe, Asia and America. In 1989, the artistic career of the sisters was described in the documentary "Which Way to Carnegie Hall?". At the age of 22, Anne Shih received her first professorship. She currently teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz. There she also founded the string chamber orchestra Mainzer Virtuosi. |
