After a warm-up, we will focus on the basics of tap dancing—and, of course, technique will also be covered. We will put together short step sequences and work on a small choreography. Previous tap dancing experience is required.

Bernd Paffrath has been working as a professional tap dancer and teacher since 1989. He has been German champion four times, International North American champion, and won a world championship title in solo tap dancing. Bernd has danced/choreographed for television shows and theater productions and toured as a soloist with “Fire of Dance” and “Flamentap.” In recent years, Bernd has also frequently performed in concert halls and, from 2016 to 2024, performed Morton Gould's “Tap Dance Concerto” (a work in four movements for symphony orchestra and tap dance) every year, as well as “David Danced” from Duke Ellington's “Sacred Concerts,” which also features tap dancing. He is a welcome guest lecturer at home and abroad (including New York and Boston) and has been teaching tap dance in the musical theater department at the Folkwang University of the Arts since 2001.  |
